Sydney is first and foremost a mother, a passionate advocate for justice, and a lifelong learner. Based in Florida, she has dedicated her career to supporting vulnerable populations. With over 22 years of diverse legal experience, her vocation underscores a deep commitment to equity and community service.

She earned Bachelor of Science degrees in both Economics and Political Science, graduating Cum Laude from The Florida State University, where she also completed minors in Theatre and Business. Her academic achievements include Dean’s List recognition, serving as President of Omicron Delta Epsilon, and being a member of Phi Alpha Delta and the Golden Key National Honor Society. Her diverse academic pursuits laid a strong foundation for her legal career and subsequent transition into work with non-profit organizations.

Sydney holds a Juris Doctor from The University of Georgia School of Law, where she received the Law Student Association Scholar Award and was a member of the editorial board for the Georgia Journal of Intellectual Property Law, the nation’s oldest student-edited journal on intellectual property law. She was also active in various student organizations, including the Student Bar Association and Women Law Students Association.

Sydney began her legal career as an Assistant State Attorney in the 1st Judicial Circuit of Florida, where she prosecuted thousands of criminal cases from 2002-2011. Following that role, she transitioned to the Department of Children and Families, where from 2011 to 2014 she advocated on behalf of children who had suffered abuse, abandonment, and neglect. This role deepened her expertise in child welfare and reinforced her dedication to safeguarding at-risk youth. In 2014, Sydney was appointed as a General Magistrate in family law, a position she continues to hold. In this capacity, she presides over complex cases involving divorce, custody, guardianship, truancy, child support, and involuntary civil commitments related to mental health and substance abuse. Her judicial work reflects her extensive legal knowledge and her empathetic approach to resolving challenging legal issues.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sydney is the wife of a law enforcement officer and a “boymom,” balancing her career with a rich family life. A deep commitment to her community and a passion for supporting diverse causes and initiatives has always been evident in her involvement with community and legal organizations such as The Junior League, Pensacola Little Theatre, PTA, Cub Scouts, American Inns of Court, and others. Sydney’s love for travel also enriches her perspective, bringing a global awareness to her endeavors.
